The Organ

St Bartholomew OrganSt Bartholomew's has a fine 3 manual Edwardian organ. Built by F. Rothwell in 1906 the organ was restored and revised in the 1960s and in 1981. The instrument delivers a full 'English' organ sound with enough ranks to provide a level of eclecticism. The organ is effective in its congregational accompaniment role, providing convincing accompaniment to the Anglican choral repertoire. The organ takes a prominent role in the worship and outreach of the parish, being used in recitals and concerts throughout the year.

During the summer of 2004 a horizontal reed stop was installed at the west end of the church. The pipes of burnished copper look as stunning as the stop sounds. The dedication of the new stop took place in October 2004 during Harvest Festival Choral Evensong. The formal dedication and inaugural recital was given by Peter Lattimer on Friday 29th October. Details of the current St Bartholomew's recital series may be found on the concerts page.
